"Trav and I met at the beginning of the summer three years ago when he came in to take a class at a gym I worked at. We ended up seeing each other at events throughout the summer and he eventually asked me out on our first date to a fundraiser.
We secretly started planning our wedding about three months prior. I told him he didn’t need to do a proposal since I obviously already knew about the wedding, however, he had different plans. The night he proposed, I was hosting my first big event for a company I work for at a local boutique. Having friends and family show up was not out of the normal as they were there to support me. At the end of the night, one of my girlfriends asked me to come to the back because she wanted to show me something. When I got to the back, Trav was holding a bouquet of flowers with flowers spread all over the floor. I thought he was there to congratulate me for my first event until he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. We always joke that he can never get anything by me, so he wanted to do it on a night that he knew my mind was going to be occupied. My friends and family were all there to witness it, and we all went out to drinks after to celebrate!
The hardest part was everyone grilling us with wedding questions – when, where, etc. Little did they know it was all already in the works!
We wanted our day to be intimate and intentional. So we kept it at just that.
We started our wedding day going through our walkthrough with our minister. I hadn’t even told my makeup artist, India, that it was our wedding – I had asked to hire her for a styled shoot. She walked in as I was practicing walking down the aisle and she said, 'you guys are taking this seriously!' (Yes, I did fill her in on what was really happening!)
I spent a couple of hours getting ready in the bridal suite sipping on champagne with India as Katie and Cass’ team with Better To Gather got everything set up. Trav got ready in his groom suite with his favorite bottle of bourbon. That morning, I wrote a letter to Trav letting him know how excited I was but also acknowledging his mom, who had passed away. I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge her being there with us. He spent his final moments getting ready sharing that moment with his mom.
Our ceremony was an absolute dream. It was just our minister and Trav and me standing up there with our videographer, Sam, and photographer, Macy, capturing/witnessing the moment. We exchanged our vows and sealed our marriage with a kiss. After our ceremony we wanted to take a minute to soak in the moment as husband and wife, so we planned to have our first dance right after the ceremony in front of the fireplace to “Strawberries” by Caamp. We got to spend the rest of the afternoon with Macy and Sam documenting our day! We went to our favorite restaurant and stayed at a hotel downtown to finish off our wedding day!
Thanksgiving was the day after and that’s when we told our family the big news and were able to celebrate with them! It was important for us to share that day with our closest people. We planned our reception six months after with Cassie again from Better to Gather at Yellowstone Country Club to watch our wedding video for the first time with everyone. We invited only 40 of our closest people to celebrate with us over dinner, drinks and our video. I would not have changed a thing!" –Kylie, the bride
