Timeless Somers Mansion Wedding Near Flathead Lake | Dannah + Kyan

Dannah + Kyan's wedding at the stately Somers Mansion was classicly elegant and swept with romantic touches. Overlooking the shores of Flathead Lake, this venue created the perfect setting for a day of authenticity and richness that will never go out of style. Photography by Halee Jo Photography.

"In May of 2023, Kyan called my sister to ask for her blessing, and to begin planning the proposal of my dreams. He was working out of town in Charlotte, NC, and I was dropping not-so-subtle hints that I wanted to get engaged by my birthday. As far as I knew, Kyan wasn’t even going to make it into town for my birthday, so my dreams were quickly crushed. Or so I thought…with the assist from my sister, Kyan dodged questions for a month about when he’d be home next, and assured me he’d 'try to propose by Christmas'.

Fast forward to June 30th, 2023 (the day before my birthday). I picked my sister up from the airport and was distracted all day so Kyan could fly into Kalispell and begin setting up his proposal scene in Somers, at a family friend’s house on the lake. I thought I was headed to a birthday dinner, and stopped to see some friends at their house. I was guided into the backyard to find Kyan waiting for me, surrounded by sunflowers, the song Blue & Green by Miles Davis playing in the background. I walked up to meet him and he proposed. Safe to say it was the best birthday ever."

Wedding Day

"Our wedding day was easily the best day of our lives. We were so lucky to have booked the Somers Mansion for multiple nights, where we got to spend quality time with friends and family. Our closest people really showed up for us, and went to work from setup, to moving tables and chairs and even to steaming napkins (insane, we know).

The morning of our wedding was beautiful and quiet, with lake views and a chill in the air. There was lots of laughter and an equal amount of tears as we began getting ready, exchanged gifts, assigned code names and relied on walkie-talkies for sole communication. As everything started to come together, hair was done and table settings placed, it was time for the first look.

The wind decided to show up in full force, but it made for a great photo-op. We shared a private moment, just us on a hilltop, exchanged private vows and shook away some nerves before meeting at the altar.

With a light drizzle in the air and dark storm clouds looming, our ceremony began. Just as I reached the altar, the sun peaked through the clouds and shone down as we exchanged vows and shared our first kiss as husband and wife. Following the ceremony, torrential downpour gave us a gorgeous rainbow backdrop as we entered our reception surrounded by mountains and Flathead Lake. It was a gorgeous scene. We curated the perfect playlist and danced the night away with our friends and family – a weekend we will cherish forever." -Dannah, the bride
