Winter Wedding At Sage Lodge | Jessica + Eric

It was a fabulous winter wedding weekend full of Montana activities for Jessica and Eric's magical black tie wedding. Photography by Jennifer Mooney Photography.

"We chose to get married on 2.2.22 because we can never forget that date, and it is also my mom's birthday! We decided on Sage Lodge because the lodge, staff and backdrop of the mountains is amazing! We rented out the lodge for three nights. Everyone arrived on January 31. The first night was a welcome BBQ reception for everyone (89 people total). We had a full BBQ feast with wood burning, bourbon/whiskey making, ax throwing, and music. Everyone enjoyed hanging out around the multiple fire pits, the activities and the scenery.

The second day we loaded onto buses to head to Yellowstone and Yellowstone Hot Springs. We got to Mammoth Hot springs and we snowshoed the upper loop. It was very cool for everyone to see, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. We saw a bull elk 30 feet from us! We got back on the bus, had a sack lunch, and headed to Yellowstone Hot springs, which we had rented for an hour for everyone to enjoy. We then headed back to Sage Lodge for the rehearsal dinner. We had an elk dinner with line dancing and the newlywed game with prizes – it was tons of fun!

The third day was wedding day! I had booked for guests to have the option to get their hair and makeup done at the spa since it was a black tie wedding, so guests did that and enjoyed the spa and hiking around Sage Lodge. My bridesmaids and I, my mother, and mother of the groom got ready in a ranch house. It was chilly out – only 7 degrees – so we had to change the plans and have the wedding inside the lodge. Everyone was dressed in black tie attire, which was magical with maroon, ivory and greenery flowers.

To end the evening, while everyone was eating, I changed into my second dress and danced the night away with everyone! We ended the night with a fantastic firework show! The next day, after brunch, many headed to the airport, but 13 of us went to Big Sky for some skiing and relaxing to finish out the week and weekend. It was the most magical, perfect trip! –Jessica, the bride
